
Gabriela Glapska is a Polish-born pianist based in Wellington, New Zealand. She holds a Master’s Degree with Distinction from Poland, where she studied under Professor Ewa Pobłocka, and completed her PhD in Music with a major performance component at Victoria University of Wellington in 2020.
She is a highly regarded chamber musician, accompanist, and répétiteur, with a strong artistic focus on contemporary music and collaboration with living composers.
Since 2017, Gabriela Glapska has been the pianist for the annual Nelson Composers Workshops and has appeared as a collaborative pianist at the 44th International Viola Congress in Wellington. As an advocate of contemporary music, she has worked closely with numerous award-winning composers on both solo and ensemble projects, and regularly performs with leading New Zealand ensembles including STROMA and the SMP Ensemble.
In August 2022, she performed at the ISCM World New Music Days Festival held in Auckland and Christchurch, further establishing her presence on the international contemporary music scene.
She is a founding member of the Ghost Trio, alongside violinist Monique Lapins and cellist Ken Ichinose. The ensemble completed a national tour for Chamber Music New Zealand’s “Music Up Close” series in 2021. In October 2023, they performed Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with St. Matthew’s Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Michael Joel in Auckland.
Gabriela Glapska also collaborates with a wide range of artists and institutions, including soprano Barbara Paterson, TrioNique, the Royal New Zealand Ballet, New Zealand Opera (6:24 Voices of Aotearoa), and Wellington Opera (La Traviata).
